{ABC mini-conference}

Last month we were excited to attend the ABC Mini-Conference in Louisville. For those of you that are not familiar, ABC stands for Association of Bridal Consultants - a wonderful organization that we are honored to be a part of! The meeting was held at the Hyatt Regency Louisville and they took great care of us there! Our favorite highlight of the mini-conference was getting the chance to see the fabulous Lovelynn Jensen of Showorks in Tampa, Florida! She taught a session during the conference - 'Creating Impactful Environments for Every Bride' where we learned lots and lots of useful tips and we have already been able to use some of them! Aside from work, we got to enjoy a lovely, fun dinner at Rivue Restaurant and got to show Lovelynn the fantastic view of Louisville from their revolving dining room which is on the 25th floor! So excited that our dear friend, Melanie Mauer got to share the night with us as well.. Such a wonderful weekend that we will never forget!

Business of the Brides-California Couture

I'm off to sunny California for the Associations of Bridal Consultants annual conference in Newport Beach! I'm excited to attend the conference as I generally attend every year for the past 10 years! Attending the conference helps me stay at the top of my game as a wedding planner with continuing education and the latest and greatest ideas for tips and trends in our industry. I want all my One Fine Day clients to get nothing but the best when they hire a wedding planner so I feel it's my duty to learn and see all there is out there to offer to make their weddings the best weddings Kentucky has ever seen!

California should be wonderful! Keynote speakers Barbara Wallace and Colin Cowie will be presenting and oh man is that ever wonderful to see and meet the best in the business. I've had the pleasure of meeting them both in years past but they are quite inspiring and I can't wait to hear them and see what they have to share!

I will manage to squeeze in some "spa-time" while I'm at the lovely Fairmont Hotel in Newport Beach! Hooray! As well as spend some fun girl time with my bestest bud in the wedding industry-Elisa MacKenzie! Really looking forward to it!

 

And conveniently enough, I'll have the opportunity to go visit LaTavola Linen's (a favorite new linen company of mine) exciting grand opening at their Beverly Hills Showroom while I'm in California. They've arranged transportation for me and a few of my favorite wedding planner friends to come up and attend! Can't wait to touch and feel all of their linens as well as meet the great customer support staff out there in California!

Attended a Great ABC meeting at Belterra Casino on the KY/IN Border on the Ohio river yesterday. Saw a lovely tour of the property and the Ballrooms they have available for Wedding Receptions and they also have some nice grounds for lovely outdoor ceremony options as well. So, if you are looking for a great resort destination for a fun weekend wedding...you should really consider Belterra!

Just think--a fun weekend of Golf at their beautiful famed Tom Fazio Golf Course, relaxing and indulging in the amazing spa and salon on site and on top of all that...gaming and fun with your friends and family in their vast casino. Talk about a great "After-Party" with your guests!

Even if you are just looking for a fun weekend away or bachelor/bachelorette party--Belterra is close, convenient and surprisingly affordable...well, I didn't gamble while I was there...so, I'm sure that "affordable" could be debateable if you're a big gambler! ha! The entire Hotel and Grounds looked so clean and "nice", I was very impressed. I'd be happy to share more info with you if you're interested just let me know! Have a lovely day!

Mid-West ABC Conference

Finally! I get a chance to tell you about my great weekend this past weekend! It's been a busy busy busy week!

I attended the ABC mid-west Conference in Cincinnati this past weekend and had a fabulous time. Truly...it started out Fabulous at Fabulous Bridal Shop an amazing wedding gown shop that is "the" place to go dress shopping and no they don't ask me to say that...it really and truly is. Fabulous Bridal hosted a fun cocktail kick-off party with champgane, Green Martini's (for st. patty's weekend) and hors d'oeurves but the fun part for me was getting to have a big sit-down session and learn about all of the designer lines that they carry and the differences with them and the price points that vary among their dresses. It was so informative. We also got the pleasure of meeting with and having q & a time with a great designer Caroline DeVillo that has her dresses at Fabulous Bridal, an exclusive line for them in this region. Again, such a blast. I even got to sit in and take a photo at the Say Cheese Photo Booth that is available for rental for your wedding. I'll have to post the picture when I get back from my "spring vacation" but it's so cute and fun!

Our conference was hosted at the Vernon Manor Hotel in Cincinnati, just north of Downtown. We had a lovely time as my roomy Elisa and I were upgraded to the Presidential Suite...gotta love that! And supposedly this is a hotel where many presidents stay when they visit Cincinnati because of the seclusion it offers for the location. So, I really might have stayed in the "Presidential" presidential suite...fun!

Our theme for the conference was inspiration and man alive did I ever walk about completely inspired with lots of fun ideas and tricks of the trade from wedding planning resources to event design wow factors. I feel like there is always something new to learn. Our 2 keynote speakers were Sasha Souza of Sasha Souza Events from California and Karen Bussen the wedding planner and designer extraordinaire from NYC. Karen is also the author of Simple Stunning Weddings, Simple Stunning Flowers, and Simple Stunning Showers. All amazing books! But, just keep in mind "Simple" doesn't always mean "cheap". OK?

We had such a nice time at the conference learning, networking, chatting. I feel so refreshed and inspired after attending a conference with people who also love this wedding industry and love what they do! So fun! Can't wait to incorporate some of the ideas learned with more great upcoming "OFD" (One Fine Day) Weddings.

I'm particularly in love with this color combinarion--the Black and White with the Bright Yellow! It's pretty cool!
