Hello! I feel horrible that my blogging has taken such a back seat but we have had such an amazing Wedding Season at One Fine Day that kept us hopping and so many fantastic weddings that we'd love to share with you in the future! 

One that was super fab was over labor day weekend for Christy & Roni- we have included their awesome highlight photo slideshow here from Tine of TM Photography in Cincinnati! I think she did a great job of capturing the day! Rain or Shine!

I am on to another exciting event in the upcoming weeks...my world is about to be blessed with an amazing new little one- Brad and I are expecting our 3rd child sometime this month! We are so excited! We do feel a little as we are starting over again since our older 2 are going to be 10 & 7 this winter...but it's going to be a fun adventure! 

With that said we want you to be in the loop on a few things- we will be on maternity leave for several weeks cherishing this priceless time with this sweet boy. Maternity Leave will likely begin mid/end of October and continue through January 3, 2013. 

During this time, I will be focusing on being a Momma. So please be patient. I plan to check in on emails & phone calls once or twice a week.  This time could shift a bit depending on when he arrives/how I am feeling. So please know that I will not be scheduling in person meetings during that time. You can still contact me as much as you'd like during the Maternity leave, I just won't be able to respond as quickly as I normally do.

Thank you in advance for understanding. We are so excited about the addition to our family and I am so blessed to have the most wonderful career where I can step away for a little bit and solely focus on him…it means more than you’ll ever know.

Prospective Brides & Clients – Please still email! As I mentioned, I will still be checking in and we have a handful of wonderful dates still available for booking!  Lindsay will also be available to meet with you during this time so that's great to know that you can set up a meeting with at least one of us from One Fine Day! inscribed - custom wooden monograms

Alright, so I have a confession. I'm somewhat of a monogram junkie. I love everything and anything with a monogram. Hats, bags, photo frames, jewelry, you name it - I most likely have my initials on it somewhere. So you can only imagine how excited I was to hear about these new custom wooden monograms by Inscribed! While I may not be getting married anytime soon, I am DEFINITELY going to look into purchasing one of these for my bedroom, and maybe even one for each of my roommates!

These wooden monograms come unfinished so that you can decorate them as you please, which I think is a fantastic idea especially for wedding decor, that way you can paint them to match your color palette perfectly.

This would be a perfect decoration to hang at the entrances or to incorporate in the table decor or table numbers.

kentucky weddings at glenlary estate

Some of my favorite weddings have been held on vast estates, overlooking the sprawling bluegrass countryside, and I believe that the GlenLary Estate would provide the most perfect backdrop for this type of affair. 

Recently reaquired by the Lary family, the property includes the Lary house, a restored orginal cabin, and 80+ acres of lushious green pastures occuppied by Thoroughbred mares and their foals.

This estate has so much amazing history (you can read all about it here!)and the Lary family is truly passionate about providing an amazing experience for their guests, not to mention it is an absolutely PERFECT location for a Kentucky wedding! A bridal shower is literally a gathering of the soon-to-be bride's female family members and friends where they "shower" her with gifts in anticipation for her wedding! This is an important time for the bride because it is an excuse to put down the Planning Binder and just relax and enjoy herself. Luckily for her, the bridal shower is NOT her responsibility and in many cases, it becomes a daunting task to the planner! But it doesn't have to be! I've compiled a small list of the basics of bridal shower planning, but The Knot has SO many helpful articles and tips, which you can find here!

Who is in charge of planning the bridal shower?

            Typically, the responsibility of planning the bridal shower falls on the maid/matron of honor. Most often the maid/matron of honor will delegate tasks to the other members of the bridal party, as well as anyone else who would like to help (aunts, mothers, grandmothers, groom’s female family members, etc.). In the past, it has been frowned upon for the bridal shower to be planned by the bride’s mother, but more recently this has been deemed as perfectly acceptable! Really it comes down to who wants to throw the bride a bridal shower, and usually ends up being a group effort!

Who is in charge of paying for the bridal shower?

            It is customary that the bridesmaids all contribute to the cost of the bridal shower, even if they are unable to attend. Make sure that everyone knows what she must pay for early in the planning process.

Who should be in charge of creating the guest list for the bridal shower?

            It’s not really important who is in charge of the guest list, but whoever it is should consult either the bride or the mother of the bride. That way you’re sure to cover all bases on whom the bride would like invited, and their address and phone number.

When should the bridal shower be held?

            The bridal shower can really happen whenever the planner seems fit. Most showers occur between six months to a week before the wedding! It’s important to take into account the travel time and plans necessary for all the guests, and give them ample time to make arrangements.

Where should the bridal shower be held?

            It’s important to take into account the feel of the bridal shower when choosing a location. Will the bridal shower be formal or informal? Is there a specific theme? Often showers are held at the home of one of the bridesmaid, or a female family member, but restaurants are also a popular choice. Some not-so-traditional locations are local coffee shops, boutiques, and ice-skating rinks! Feel free to be creative if the bride would like it! Just remember to always keep her preferences in mind when planning her bridal shower!

Does the bridal shower have to have a theme?

            The bridal shower does NOT have to have a theme! Although themes are often fun and are a great way to reflect the bride’s personality, it is not a necessity. A common color palette in the decorations is the perfect way to add just enough cohesiveness to the shower without it being over the top, if you’re looking for simple.

Do the bridesmaids need to buy a gift for the bridal shower?

            Yes! Although the bridesmaids are paying for the bridal shower, it is also important that they give the bride a gift as well, even if they all go in on one gift.

What is the difference between a bridal shower and a couple shower?

            The difference between a bridal shower and a couple shower is, as you probably could have guessed, one is for the bride while the other is for the couple. Couple showers are a recent trend and are popular among couples with the same friend group, especially if their friend group consists of other couples. This is also a great way to bring both families together as well! It is definitely a great idea for some couples, but make sure to ask the bride how she feels with the idea before planning it.

We love that many of our brides and grooms have a 'Destination Kentucky' wedding. As a large part of their guest count often travels to Kentucky (many for the first time!), they love to be able incorporate Kentucky/Bluegrass details into their big day/weekend. Ale-8-One was recently featured in an article on Delish.com as one of the Top 10 Local Pops. Did you know that it's the only soft drink invented in Kentucky that's still in existence? That's right, Ale-8-One is made right over in Winchester, Kentucky!

Since you're not able to purchase Ale-8-One everywhere in the country, why not have it at your wedding? You could have it available at the bar, mix it into a specialty drink or cocktail, or have them iced down for guests as a treat for when they leave the wedding.

full open bar or limited beer and wine bar?

    While speaking with a gentleman friend the other day, I asked for his opinion on alcohol at wedding receptions. Unsurprisingly, he was all about the full open bar compared to a beer/wine option. There are many factors that go into making the decision between an open bar or a beer/wine/possible signature drink combination, such as: the time of day, the location of your reception, the number of guests who will be drinking, assumed amount of alcohol consumed by those guests, and their drink preferences.

    If you're worried about your budget, a beer/wine option may be best for you, but keep in mind that in some venues/caterers offer bottom shelf spirits for the same price per person so be sure to ask! 

    

    It is important to remember that this is your wedding, after all, so if you and your hubby would like to enjoy a few mixed drinks with your friends and family on your special day, by all means - GO FOR IT! (Just remember not to over-do it that you may be getting on a plane the following morning!)

   We're a fan of offering lovely beverage options to your guests as you are the hostess with the mostess on this very special day, but make sure to explore all options if you're up in the air! We have found that your guests will drink what is offered to them, so if you don't want them to overindulge, then consider closing the bar 30 minutes prior to your band or DJ stop time, but they are just as likely to drink wine and beer if that is all that you have to offer. So, we always love a plan B for transportation options to get guests home that may have had 1 too many- even if it's a Taxi service.

deciding on your bridesmaids' dress, or dresses?

Now let's face it, sometimes we girls can get somewhat, nitpicky. Especially when it comes to what we wear; more specifically, what we wear when professional photographers are present. As a bride, the final decision is yours, but it is important to take into account your bridesmaids' feelings about the dresses that you would like them to wear on your wedding day.

More recently, brides have given their bridesmaids a bit more freedom when it comes to selecting their dress, and for more laid back weddings, giving them (almost) complete freedom over their dress and shoes!

A couple of options when it comes to selecting bridesmaids dresses include:

• Selecting a single dress for all bridesmaids to wear after voting on all options
• Selecting a designer and specific color for your bridesmaids to choose from and letting them select the style of dress they like
• Selecting a color PALETTE and letting them find their own dress (after your approval, of course)

The third option looks great for outdoorsy, casual weddings!

Whatever option you choose, make sure that their look compliments your overall aesthetic for your wedding, and remember, the final decision is yours and if they love you, they will wear whatever you choose!
